After a back-and-forth with the NCAA, Makhtar eventually joined the Fab 5 at Michigan, and later, the University of North Carolina, learning from two legendary coaches and creating relationships to last a lifetime. An instant connection with legendary coach Dean Smith influenced Makhtar’s philosophy for the rest of his career.
